Four Seasons in One Day Keynote Animation

"Four seasons in one day," is a common expression in Aotearoa, New Zealand! Our weather can be very changeable through out a day, in any season. Unfortunately, this often catches visitors or tourists of guard, especially if they are tramping (hiking) in our beautiful outdoors.

As part of our Term 4 focus on natural disasters, in particular storms, flooding and landslides my Year 2 and 3 ākonga will create a "Four Seasons in One Day" animation on Keynote. The initial process will involve taking photos of our natural environment, clouds, sky, bush, river etc over the first week back at school. As it is Spring, we should definitely get a variety of interesting photos to work with. They can also choose to collaborate and share images if they wish too.

They will then base their animation on the Ruahine and Tararua Ranges, and the Manawatū Gorge and River. Students will use tools such as image fill and opacity to bring their initial photos and ideas to life.

They will then tūtū (play) with the animations to show one or more of the natural disasters e.g. storm, flood, landslide happening.

I'm looking forward to seeing their creative designs bringing to life the "Four seasons in one day" phase!

What a fun activity! In Kansas, we can definitely relate to multiple seasons in a day!

Thanks, Eileen! It would be neat to have a southern versus northern hemisphere weather comparison! 🤗
