My Algebra 1 students have been using physical Algebra tiles to factor quadratics lately. I started creating a template on Keynote for them to be able to use to do their homework at home, since the tiles stay in my classroom. Once I had the template made, I decided to have them take it a step further. Instead of just having a template for students to just do practice problems, I had them create a video with the animation features in Keynote for different types of factoring problems.
A change that I will be making next year is I will have them use Magic Move (you can see an example of this below), instead of the Build In animations. I will also have them add in a voice over that explains how they set up the Algebra tiles.
You can download the template that I sent to the students below!
Let me know how it goes with your students and any changes you would make!
