Picture Perfect ABCs with Handwriting

Picture Perfect ABCS

In this early literacy activity, our kindergarten and first-grade students are exploring the alphabet through a creative, hands-on approach. Using Pages on iPad, students open a template that includes a letter, space for a photo of something that begins with that letter, and room to practice writing the letter with their stylus.

This simple structure supports Structured Literacy practices by reinforcing the connection between phonemes (sounds) and graphemes (letters) through multi-sensory engagement—seeing, saying, hearing, and writing.

Learning Outcome:

Students will apply phonemic awareness and phonics skills by identifying the target letter, producing its corresponding sound, connecting it to a picture that begins with that sound, and accurately forming the letter in writing.

This activity is a joyful blend of creativity and literacy—helping our youngest learners build foundational skills while experiencing the magic of creating on iPad.

Attached is the Pages template with teacher and student instructions and all 26 letters.
