This year our kura (school) focussed on sharing the Story of Whakarongo, the wāhine toa our kura and rohe (area) are named after. This resources was created in pages, and exported as an ePub so ākonga (students) could open an interactive resource in books or files.
The intention behind this was so increase engagement, allow students to explore the mahi in their own way and time, and to build a sense of the local tohunga (landmarks) of significance within our rohe (area).
The resource includes links to local stories and interactive resources developed by our local iwi, voice recordings of the Story of Whakarongo gifted to us by Whakapapa of Whakarongo, interactive maps of the rohe that show sites of historical significance and artwork developed by our amazing tamariki.
Students have loved using the resource to carry out 'scavenger hunts' and search for information, and the ability to make sense of some of the tohu they have seen around our area.
Attach up to 5 files which will be available for other members to download.
