Giving Character Awards to Better Understand Character Traits

My fourth graders can identify character traits at the surface level, but at times struggle to understand character traits on a deeper level.

To combat this, I've created character awards! Character awards are a fun way to think deeply about characters from any story by giving them awards. While having fun, students will be working on the CER framework (Make a CLAIM, provide EVIDENCE to support the claim, and give REASONS why the evidence supports the claim).
