2D Shapes - Everyone Can Create Projects

This lesson was inspired by the ‘Build a Robot project’ from the Everyone Can Create resources. I developed this resource as part of my Year One class's 'Shape' unit, aiming to provide children with an opportunity to express their creativity in mathematics.

The children were tasked with collaborating, discussing which shapes might best suit their robot designs and explaining their choices. The lesson concludes by prompting them to identify the shapes they utilised and tally the quantity of each.

The class thoroughly enjoyed the lesson, finding it a wonderful opportunity to learn in a creative manner.

What a great lesson! I love that you had the students collaborate and discuss which shapes would be best for their design. Thanks for sharing the Keynote template too!

What a fun activity! Thanks for sharing! Did any of them animate their robot when they were done? Or, maybe the students that finish up early could add an audio recording of their explanations that they discussed with their groups.
